Rebuild is investing hundreds of
millions of dollars to refurbish parks, recreation centers, and libraries. This
much-needed work will provide safe and attractive spaces for recreation and
education, community services, and other essential programs. Rebuild promotes
inclusion and opportunity, empowers community voice, and supports the
well-being of Philadelphia . Projects are made possible through the
Philadelphia Beverage Tax.

The City of Philadelphia manages and funds all the Rebuild projects through collaboration of the Rebuild office, and Philadelphia Parks and Recreation.
Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC) was selected by the City of Philadelphia to lead the Rebuild project at Olney Recreation Center. PHMC is a Philadelphia nonprofit working to improve the health of the community through outreach, health promotion, research, planning, and direct services. Antoine Johnson, a minority- and woman-owned business, provides project administration support to PHMC. .
A central component of the Rebuild initiative is community involvement. Three Olney-based community organizations with local knowledge and expertise are partners on the Olney Rec Center project. These organizations helped to shape engagement efforts and continue to gather community input, share information, and recruit residents’ participation in activities and events.
The design team consists of architects, landscape architects, civil engineers, and mechanical engineers. The team collaborates with community partners and City agencies to design a rec center and site that responds to residents’ input and meets stakeholders’ needs.
